For many people retirement is a time to relax, travel and do all those things that you always wanted to do. For others, it is a time of uncertainty; perhaps to ignore it being the best approach.

The fact is, our “retirement” will last longer then we ever expected and will be very different from what we planned. While preparation is important, staying flexible is critical. Health problems, financial or family crisis may interrupt the best of plans and send them in a different direction.

Whether retirement is years away or just around the corner, the more time you spend thinking about the issues you will face, the actions that you might take and the goals that you set, the more likely you will have the financial independence that you desire.
